Ensure your septic system or grease trap is working properly with regular maintenance. Keeping your septic tank or aerobic treatment plant regularly serviced is important to avoid possible health risks or costly property damage that can be caused by a malfunctioning system.

Stansbury Septic Service offers comprehensive septic system pumping and maintenance services. We can service and repair all makes and models that you may currently own. There is no job too big or too small!

Suggested Maintenance Service

Stansbury Septic Service recommends that for your routine servicing, the aerobic treatment plant be pumped out and fully checked over every 2 years and septic tanks every 10 years, depending on the size of your family. This will decrease your chance of a system failure.

We recommend your grease trap be pumped one to two times per year to avoid and prevent drain pipe blockage and bad odors that are caused due to large amounts of grease.

Guidelines for Aerobic Treatment Plan Maintenance

Do not use or dispose:
  • Greases, fats, oils, pesticides, herbicides or any other toxins
  • Food waste- food waste, grease, etc. should be disposed into the solid waste bin
  • Garbage disposal should be used sparingly. Food waste presents the aerobic treatment plant with additional loading that needs to be digested. Doing so will increase the pump out intervals
  • Paints, household chemicals, automobile fluids, mop water
  • Non-biodegradable items such as cigarette butts, disposable diapers, feminine hygiene products, condoms, hair, coffee grounds, rags, paper towels, bandages, etc.
  • Citrus products, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, etc.
  • Additives for septic systems-they do more harm than good
  • Hydraulic overload due to excessive water from other sources
  • Home brewery waste, strong medicine, antibiotics, anti-bacterial soaps
  • Strong disinfectants or bleaches, Lysol, Pine-Sol, Tidy Bowl, Drano or discharge from water softeners
*Please note that personal cleansing wipes that say “flushable” or “septic safe” are not recommended for aerobic treatment plants

Acceptable Products and “Best Practices”
  • Recommended detergents: powdered, low-sudsing, low phosphates and bio-degradable, washing soda ingredients such as Gain, Arm & Hammer, Fresh Start and Dash Bright
  • Recommended cleaning products: Non-chlorine, bio-degradable and non-toxic cleaners such as Ivory, Cascade, Sunlight dishwashing liquid and/or powdered detergent, Comet, Biz powdered cleaners, baking soda
  • Wash loads should be spread out over the week. Once a week multiple loads or half loads are not recommended
  • Fabric softener dryer sheets are recommended
  • Systems requiring pump-outs due to the above violations are not covered under the warranty
